A clevis hanger is a type of pipe support used in various industrial, commercial, and residential applications to suspend and support piping systems. It is designed to provide a stable and adjustable means of supporting pipes, conduits, and tubing while allowing for movement caused by thermal expansion, contraction, or other dynamic forces.

The clevis hanger consists of two main components:

  1. Clevis: The clevis is a U-shaped bracket or yoke with holes or slots at each end. It is attached to the supporting structure, such as a beam, channel, or strut, using bolts or other fasteners. The pipe or conduit is suspended from the clevis by attaching it to the holes or slots.
  2. Hanger Rod: The hanger rod is a threaded metal rod that connects the clevis to the pipe or conduit. One end of the hanger rod is attached to the clevis, while the other end is secured to the pipe or conduit using clamps, brackets, or other fastening methods. The threaded nature of the hanger rod allows for easy adjustment of the pipe's height and position to accommodate different installation requirements.
